Cornelius Cole


What a fine name! This bell turned up in Romsey , Hampshire, England. Unfortunately all I know about it is contained in the inscription. This is: 'Cornelius Cole Royal Hotel Weymouth presented by J J Staunton of yacht Snowdrop Aug 8th 1873' And the soundbow is engraved with the words ' May good digestion wait on appetite and health on both - Shakespeare' A heavy 6 inch diameter bell made from gunmetal. Unusual for me because most of my bells were made of bell metal. I have not yet been able to track Cornelius down. I wonder if he ever met Sir George? (see below)
