J Shaw & Son

I bought this old English handbell on Ebay from a seller in the USA. J Shaw & Son was a Musical Bell Founder in Bradford in Yorkshire, England. Lovely colour.

This bell was made by my maternal great, great grandfather John Shaw and his son Walter. My mother will be thrilled to see this picture! She has often spoken of her grandfather Walter Shaw being a bell founder in Bradford. My brother lives in the New Forest and my mother, who is very elderly now, sometimes stays with him. It would give her enormous pleasure to see this bell, to have it in her hands for a short while. Is there any remote chance this would be possible? Vicky

Vicky, I have now sold this bell and do not have a record of who has it now. I would have gladly sent it to you to borrow. I now maintain my collection at a constant number, so when I add bells, some have to go.

Oh, what a shame! Our family would have bought it from you, never mind. Should another come you way please let me know.

I've just discovered that J Shaw is James (not John) as I posted earlier. I'm finding out more about him, its fascinating.
